Over its first year, Spade’s namesake description flourished into a billion-dollar brand that now includes attire, jewelry, stationery, housewares and a kids’ boundary. While she wasn’t part of the firebrand at the time of her fatality — she and Andy Spade left the company in 2007 — her influence on its quirky-yet-sophisticated patterns will continue to live on.

In fact, precisely this year, the firebrand( now owned by Tapestry, the mother company of Coach) brought back one of Spade’s designs — the Sam — to the satisfy of many fashion devotees.
